Specular Hematite - Specularite - One side polished and lacquered.

Specular Hematite, also known as specularite, is a a variety of hematite characterized by aggregates of silvery, metallic, specular ("mirror-like") hematite flakes or tabular, anhedral crystals.  This flaky material is slabbed and then polished on one side and then lacquered to protect the mineral from flaking and wearing away.
